Meet Our Doctors
Dr. David Northcutt
Dr. David Northcutt completed his undergraduate work at Auburn University in 1989. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham in 1993. While there, he was named one of the top five Prosthodontic honor students in his graduating class. Upon graduation, he received the McCracken Award for excellence in Partial Prosthodontics.
Dr. Northcutt was elected by his peers in a statewide election to serve as one of six dentists on the Board of Dental Examiners for the State of Alabama. After serving a 5 year term, 2 of which he served as President of the Board, Dr. Northcutt’s term ended in 2013, but he still remains actively involved.
Dr. Mary Ann Mason
Dr. Mary Ann Mason grew up in Fort Myers, FL. She graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1995. She continued her education at the University of Florida in Gainesville earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Cell Science in 1999. As an undergraduate, she cheered on the UF Cheerleading squad for two years. Dr. Mason continued her education at the University of Florida College of Dentistry where she earned her DMD degree in 2003.
She is a member of the American Dental Association and the Alabama Dental Association. She strives to learn new techniques and keep current through continuing education. Dr. Mason currently resides in Mobile, Al where she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and watching Florida Gators football.
Dr. Jerald Dixon
Dr. Jerald Dixon is originally from Mobile, Alabama. In 1988, he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Dixon received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School Of Dentistry in 1992. After graduation, he completed a two year residency in The Public Health Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Dr. Dixon continues to advance his training in many aspects of Dentistry including : laser dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry, oral conscious sedation, and implant dentistry.
Dr. Dixon is married with two sons. He has a variety of hobbies including tennis, cycling, running, and playing guitar.
Dr. Thi Tran
Dr. Thi Tran grew up in Birmingham, AL where she graduated from Hoover High School in 2006. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Minor in Art. She then continued her education at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry where she earned her DMD degree in 2014.
Dr. Tran was an active member of the American Student Dental Association and is currently a member of the American Dental Association and the Alabama Dental Association. Throughout her education, Dr. Tran continued to work at her family’s nail salon as a licensed cosmetologist while remaining at the top of her class.
Dr. Tran currently resides in Mobile, AL with her husband and little dog, Charlie, where she enjoys painting, running, cooking, and going the dog park. She is fluent in Vietnamese.
Dr. Cindy Nguyen
Dr. Cindy Nguyen grew up in California and Mississippi where she graduated from high school in 1997. Upon graduation, she attended the University of South Alabama and continued on to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she obtained her Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2003. She practiced as a dental hygienist until 2007 and was accepted to Louisiana State University for dental school. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2011.
Since graduation, Dr. Nguyen has practiced in Houston, Texas and has recently relocated to Theodore with her fiancé. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her parents in Mississippi, cooking, baking, and reading.
Dr. Aaron Yarnell
Dr. Aaron Yarnell grew up in Harvest, AL where he graduated from Sparkman High School in 2002. In 2006, he completed his undergraduate work at Auburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Yarnell continued his education at the University Of Alabama School Of Dentistry in Birmingham. After graduating in 2010, he was an active duty dentist in the United States Army for 5 years during which he was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, then on to Ansbach Army Garrison, Germany, and recently completed his Army commitment at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Dr. Yarnell currently resides in Helena, AL with his wife Heather, two sons Noah and Benjamin, and cat Charlie. Dr. Yarnell enjoys relaxing with family, building forts with his sons, staying involved in his local church, running, and cheering on the Auburn Tigers. War Eagle!
Dr. Kara Ward
Dr. Kara Ward grew up in southern Maryland where she graduated from La Plata High School in 2005. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in biology with minors in chemistry and French. In 2014 she graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).
After dental school Dr. Ward completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at the Birmingham VA Hospital. During this year-long program she worked with medically and dentally complex patients and received advanced training in implant placement, oral surgery, prosthodontics, restorative and preventative dentistry.
Dr. Ward is active in the professional dental community as a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and American Dental Association. She is also passionate about providing dental services to underserved patients by volunteering with Equal Access Birmingham and Cahaba Valley Health Care.
Dr. Ward lives in Birmingham with her husband, where she enjoys running, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Kyrslyne Thomas
Dr. Kyrslyne Thomas grew up in Snellville, GA, a small town outside of Atlanta. She received her Bachelors of Science from Georgia State University, where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. After college, she went on to pursue her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Georgia Regents University, formerly Medical College of Georgia. After graduating in 2013, she worked in private practice in Atlanta, GA until relocating to the gulf area.
Dr. Thomas believes in providing the highest quality dental care in the most caring and efficient manner. She is committed to continually advancing her knowledge in dentistry and educating patients on the importance of oral health. She is currently affiliated with the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Thomas currently resides in Pensacola, FL, where she enjoys spending time with her husband and their Yorkshire Terrier. She also enjoys traveling, watching football, cooking, cake decorating, and spending time with her family and friends.
Dr. Rachel Tucker
Dr. Rachel Tucker grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and graduated from Grissom High School in 2006. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. In 2009, she was the sole exchange student from the University to Poitiers, France, where her professors endearingly called her l’orpheline de Alabama, the Alabama orphan. In 2010, she was awarded both a Bachelors of Science in microbiology and a Bachelors of Arts in French, magna cum laude.
She continued her education at University of Alabama in Birmingham School of Dentistry. While there, she excelled both academically and in student leadership and was awarded her DMD in 2014. The following year, she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. As part of her residency training, she received instruction at Georgia Regents University School of Dentistry and the Army residency programs at Tingay Dental Clinic, Fort Gordon.
Dr. Tucker is a classic extrovert. Accordingly, she spends most of her free time with friends and family or at her church. She’s completed several half-marathons and jokes that she chose her home address based on convenience to her gym. She has a heart for service and looks forward to giving back to her community through her dental training.
Dr. Joey Seale
Dr. Joey Seale was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up in Norman, Oklahoma. He graduated with academic distinction from the University of Oklahoma College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology Biomedical Sciences. He then attended the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and received his DDS in 2009. He practiced from 2009-2015 in Durant, Oklahoma.
Dr. Seale lives in Mobile with his wife, three children, and dogs. He has always loved the Gulf Coast and wanted to move somewhere he could be close to the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches and enjoy the fresh Gulf seafood. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies, going to the beach, and grilling out.
Dr. Lindsey Elmore Maurer
Dr. Lindsey Elmore Maurer grew up in Southern Kentucky, where she graduated from Glasgow High School in 2007. She completed her undergraduate studies at Western Kentucky University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry, magna cum laude. Dr. Maurer, however, has always considered herself more of an extroverted, hands-on, artistic individual than a bookworm.
She continued her education at University of Louisville School of Dentistry in the Derby city, where she received the coveted Academy of Operative Dentistry Award. During her training at ULSD, Dr. Maurer remained actively involved in leadership and philanthropy, and had unique opportunities to travel across the world to provide dental care to those in need. She completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2015.
Dr. Maurer received advanced training at University of Kentucky General Practice Residency, where she spent the majority of her time treating complex dental cases at the VA Medical Center Dental Clinic. In addition, she received advanced training in implant placement, IV & oral conscious sedation, third molar extractions, endodontics, and medically complex patients.
She has always dreamed of living near the bay to escape the Kentucky winters. She enjoys home renovation projects, live music, & spending time with her husband and 2 blonde labs. She is beyond thankful and excited to join the wonderful team at Northcutt Dental.
Dr. Laura Wathen
Dr. Laura Wathen grew up in Bardstown, KY where she graduated from Bardstown High School in 2008. In 2012, she graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Biology, summa cum laude and “Scholar of the College”. She then continued her education at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where she earned her DMD degree in 2016.
Dr. Wathen remained in the top 5% of her class through all four years of dental school. During her senior year, she was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a National Dental Honor Society who selects students that have shown exemplary character, leadership, and scholarship. She was also awarded the Alpha Omega Scholarship Award, which is presented to the student who has attained the highest scholastic average in the graduating class.
Dr. Wathen resides in Daphne, AL with her fiancé and their dog, Baxter. Her fiancé is currently a Deputy Sheriff with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. She enjoys meeting new people, strength training, trying new restaurants, and enjoying the southern hospitality and beautiful weather of southern Alabama.
