Skilled Doctors

Dr. David Northcutt

Dr. David Northcutt completed his undergraduate work at Auburn University in 1989. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham in 1993. While there, he was named one of the top five Prosthodontic honor students in his graduating class. Upon graduation, he received the McCracken Award for excellence in Partial Prosthodontics.

Dr. Northcutt was elected by his peers in a statewide election to serve as one of six dentists on the Board of Dental Examiners for the State of Alabama. After serving a 5 year term, 2 of which he served as President of the Board, Dr. Northcutt’s term ended in 2013, but he still remains actively involved.

Dr. Lindsey Elmore Maurer

Dr. Lindsey Elmore Maurer grew up in Southern Kentucky, where she graduated from Glasgow High School in 2007. She completed her undergraduate studies at Western Kentucky University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry, magna cum laude. Dr. Maurer, however, has always considered herself more of an extroverted, hands-on, artistic individual than a bookworm.

She continued her education at University of Louisville School of Dentistry in the Derby City, where she received the coveted Academy of Operative Dentistry Award. During her training at ULSD, Dr. Maurer remained actively involved in leadership and philanthropy and had unique opportunities to travel across the world to provide dental care to those in need. She completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2015.

Dr. Maurer received advanced training at University of Kentucky General Practice Residency, where she spent the majority of her time treating complex dental cases at the VA Medical Center Dental Clinic. In addition, she received advanced training in implant placement, IV & oral conscious sedation, third molar extractions, endodontics, and medically complex patients.

She has always dreamed of living near the bay to escape the Kentucky winters. She enjoys home renovation projects, live music, & spending time with her husband and 2 blonde labs. She is beyond thankful and excited to join the wonderful team at Northcutt Dental.

Dr. Laura Wathen

Dr. Laura Wathen grew up in Bardstown, KY where she graduated from Bardstown High School in 2008. In 2012, she graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Biology, summa cum laude and “Scholar of the College”. She then continued her education at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where she earned her DMD degree in 2016.

Dr. Wathen remained in the top 5% of her class through all four years of dental school. During her senior year, she was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a National Dental Honor Society who selects students that have shown exemplary character, leadership, and scholarship. She was also awarded the Alpha Omega Scholarship Award, which is presented to the student who has attained the highest scholastic average in the graduating class.

Dr. Wathen resides in Daphne, AL with her fiancé and their dog, Baxter. Her fiancé is currently a Deputy Sheriff with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. She enjoys meeting new people, strength training, trying new restaurants, and enjoying the southern hospitality and beautiful weather of southern Alabama.

Northcutt Dental is a wonderful place to go. They treat each and every person who comes through the door so great. I have not been a fan of the dentist, but everyone at Northcutt Dental has made me put those fears aside. Thank you Northcutt Dental for the care and help you have given me. — A.M.
